Water: The Ultimate Hydration Hero Water is the unsung hero of hair care. It's the fundamental ingredient that lays the foundation for healthy, hydrated curls. Without adequate moisture, your hair simply can't thrive. Water allows other ingredients to penetrate and nourish your strands. So, when you're searching for hydrating products, make sure water is listed as one of the top ingredients to ensure your curls get the hydration they crave.   2. Humectants: Your Moisture Magnets Humectants are like magical moisture magnets for your curls. These include glycerin and cetearyl alcohol, both of which excel at attracting and locking in moisture. Picture your curls sipping on a tall glass of water all day long, staying juicy, bouncy, and frizz-free. That's the power of humectants! They work tirelessly to ensure your curls remain hydrated, even in challenging weather conditions.  Note that not all alcohols in hair care products are harmful. In fact, some alcohols, like cetearyl and cetyl alcohol, can be quite hydrating and beneficial for your hair. So, don't be alarmed by the term "alcohol" – it's not always a bad thing for your locks!    3. Plant-Based Goodness: Nature's Gift to Your Curls Mother Nature has given us a lot of wonderful plant-based ingredients that work wonders for your curls. Rudy and Michal highly recommend incorporating these natural treasures into your hair care routine: Green Tea Extract: This natural wonder is packed with antioxidants and vitamin C. It is an excellent hydrator and helps to protect your strands against sun damage. Additionally, it promotes hair growth by boosting blood circulation, helping you reach your desired length faster.  Rose Water: Known for its growth-boosting properties, it's like a secret elixir for your curls. Rose of Jericho: This remarkable plant works its magic by maintaining even water distribution throughout your hair, resulting in consistently well-hydrated curls. It also balances your hair's porosity levels and ensures that your hair products are absorbed effectively.    4. Oils: Your allies for an accomplished hair care routine Oils are your best  allies in your hair care routine. They can serve multiple purposes, depending on the type you choose! Here are the two oils our Curl Experts highly recommend: Grape seed oil: Packed with vitamin E and essential fatty acids, this oil helps to deeply nourish your crown and promote overall hair health.  Abyssinian Oil: This oil is packed with a variety of vitamins, such as vitamin A, vitamin B2, and vitamin C. It's both fast-absorbing and lightweight, ensuring your curls won't ever feel greasy. Furthermore, it's a fantastic choice to enhance shine and provide protection against heat damage.    5. Protein: The Building Blocks of Strong Curls Protein is essential for maintaining the structure and strength of your curls. Rudy and Michal recommend looking for products that contain either Baobab Protein or Hydrolyzed Soy Protein. These proteins give your curls the fortitude they need to shine, bounce, and hold their shape, even in the face of humidity and environmental stressors. They deeply repair and strengthen the hair shaft which helps prevent breakage and improves elasticity.  Using our Curl Experts’ knowledge and experience, we’ve crafted CurlCare with ingredients that will truly nurture your curls and coils. Conquer Hair Breakage: Essential Tips for Healthy Curls

Conquer Hair Breakage: Essential Tips for Healthy Curls

For most curl babes, there's one word that sends chills down our backs every single time: breakage! We pour our hearts into caring for our curls, so it's incredibly frustrating to see them chip away one broken piece at a time. However, breakage doesn’t have to be the end of the world! The first step on the road to recovery is understanding why your hair is breaking and adjusting your routine accordingly. What is Breakage? Before diving into all the juicy details about why your hair might be breaking and what to do about it, let’s first define what breakage is. If you are noticing that your hair is thinning, there can be different reasons why this might be happening. Excessive hair shedding and breakage can both lead to thinning, but they have different causes, so it's important to know which one you are experiencing. While hair shedding means that your hair falls off at the roots, breakage refers to the actual ripping or tearing of the hair shaft. To determine which one you have, pay attention to where the hair is breaking. If you are noticing shorter strands with a clean break at the ends, it's likely breakage. On the other hand, if you are finding fallen hairs with a white bulb at the root, it's more likely to be shedding. The Main Reasons for Curly Hair Breakage 1. Dry Hair Dehydrated strands are more prone to breakage, so hydration is super important. Curly hair, in particular, needs more moisture due to its structure, which makes it harder for natural oils to travel down the hair shaft. For high porosity hair, try our Unconditional Love Deep Conditioner, which provides intense hydration and nourishment. If you have low porosity hair, try our Moisture Rescue Conditioner! Its lightweight consistency ensures that it penetrates even the smallest hair cuticles so your hair can effectively absorb the product. Not sure about your hair type? Take our Curl Quiz to find out! 2. Rough Handling Handling your strands too roughly can lead to significant breakage, preventing you from seeing the length you desire. Always remember to be gentle with your crown when manipulating it. When detangling, make sure to start from the ends and work your way up to the roots. Patience is key! 3. The Wrong Detangling Tools Did you know that 70% of breakage happens during detangling? Using the right tools can make a world of difference when it comes to length retention. Ensure your hair is wet and avoid using wide-tooth combs. Instead, use a Denman brush with flexible bristles for a gentler touch. This minimizes the stress on your hair and helps reduce breakage. 4. Too Much Heat Excessive heat can cause your strands to break, so be mindful of how often you use heat styling tools. If you must use heat, always apply a heat protectant beforehand to shield your hair from damage. Additionally, try to embrace more heatless styling methods like braids, twists, or Bantu knots. 5. Not Enough Protein Your hair is primarily made out of a protein called keratin. It is the building block for your curls and the key to maintaining its strength and resilience. Incorporating protein treatments in your routine will help to repair damaged strands, restore eleasticity, prevent breakage and improve porosity.  For curl babes with fine strands and high porosity hair, maintaining a good balance of protein and moisture is absotluty essential. So, if you’re noticing breakage and have been slacking on your monthly protein treatments, consider using a Curl Repair to repair your hair strands from the inside out. 6. Using the Wrong Elastics/Hair Ties Believe it or not, the type of elastics and hair ties you use can significantly impact your hair’s health. Avoid using rubber bands or elastics with metal clasps as they can snag and break your hair. Opt for silk or satin scrunchies instead, as they are much gentler on your curls and will help prevent unnecessary breakage.  Preventing Breakage: Additional Tips Regular Trims: Regular trims help prevent split ends, which can lead to breakage if left unchecked. Aim to trim your hair every 8-12 weeks. Protective Styles: Wearing protective styles like braids, twists, or buns can help minimize manipulation and protect your ends from damage. Sleep Care: Use a satin or silk pillowcase or bonnet to reduce friction and prevent breakage while you sleep. Understanding the causes of breakage and making mindful adjustments to your hair care routine can lead to stronger, healthier curls. Remember, your hair is a reflection of your love and care, so treat it with the kindness and patience it deserves. Here’s to achieving healthy, luscious, and bouncy curls!

Curly Hair 101: How To Remove Buildup

Curly Hair 101: How To Remove Buildup

Every curly girl has experienced this before…you complete your wash day using the same products & routine that have worked for you the past couple of months. You style your hair and dry it, expecting luscious bouncy curls and coils but instead, your hair comes out dry and frizzy! What happened? Why did your results differ so much from previous wash days when you’ve been using the SAME products this whole time?! Well, my curlfriend, the answer is simple…it's because of BUILDUP.  The Different Types of Buildup  Curly & coily hair is prone to various types of build up that can affect the overall health and appearance of your hair. Here are some of the most common types of build up that can occur:  Product build up This can happen when heavy styling products like gels, mousses and creams are not properly washed out of the hair. Over time, these products can create a residue that weighs down your curls, making them appear dull & lifeless.  Mineral Build-up This kind of build up can be caused by hard water. Mineral deposits often interfere with the effectiveness of other hair care products, leaving your hair dry and brittle.  Sebum Build-up Sebum is the natural oil produced by the scalp. It is a natural hair moisturizer that protects your curls. While it is typically beneficial for your crown, an excessive amount of sebum can lead to build up & residue.  Chlorine Build up If you swim in pools on a regular basis, you may be prone to chlorine build up. The chemicals in the water can accumulate on your strands, making your hair feel brittle, dry and prone to breakage.   Silicone Build up Many hair products contain silicone, a substance that temporarily gives the illusion of smoothness and shine to your hair. A prolonged use of silicones can oftentimes lead to build up.  Dust & Dirt Build Up Every day our hair is exposed to environmental pollutants, dust and dirt. If not thoroughly cleansed, these small particles can accumulate on your strands.  But, how do you know if you have Buildup?  Here are the 4 tell tale signs that you have a bad case of buildup on your hands.. Nothing Works One of the main signs of build up is that most products seem to stop working on your hair. This happens because the buildup creates a barrier between your hair and the products you’re using, which stops them from actually penetrating your hair strands Dry, Brittle Hair Your hair is unable to properly absorb any products and is dry and rough to the touch.  Scalp Problems Your scalp feels dry, itchy and flaky.  Limp, lifeless hair Your hair appears limp and weak and your curls aren’t as springy as they used to be.    How do you fix Buildup?  The key to removing build up  and avoiding it in the future is to use a really Good Clarifying Shampoo once a month.  Clarifying your hair… Removes hard water minerals and chlorine  Removes any silicones, butters, oils and other residue from your products Cleanses your scalp and removes all the dead skin cells Will bring your limp hair back to life!    However…Not all Clarifying Shampoos are made equal. Most contain harsh ingredients that completely strip your crown of its natural oils and dry out your curls! Our Curl Renaissance Shampoo does all the heavy lifting of a regular Clarifying shampoo but without any of the harsh chemicals. So, If you want to experience the ultimate Curl Renaissance, try our chelating shampoo today!  For dry curly hair, finding the right balance between using a cleansing shampoo and moisturizing one is crucial. Developing an effective wash day regimen brings you one step closer to achieving the healthy, luscious locks of your dreams! 💦🥳

From Hair Trauma to Hair Glory

From Hair Trauma to Hair Glory

A little history on black hair The concept of "good hair" is something we've all heard about and it has influenced how many of us view our natural hair. From a young age, we have been told that our hair wasn't good enough, that our curls needed to be tamed, smoothed, or changed to fit in with what society deemed acceptable.  But this wasn't always the case. In pre colonial times, black hair was associated with personal identity and belonging. The way in which you style your hair and the hairstyle you chose was a way to tell the world who you were. From mothers to daughters to soldiers, everyone had a particular style that represented the group or tribe that they were a part of. So, hair was much more than a symbol of beauty, it represented identity.  However, when the slave trade began, all of that changed. Eurocentric beauty standards were enforced rigorously and black traits were deemed inferior. Black hair became a source of shame rather than pride.  This set the stage for the negative perceptions and stereotypes surrounding curly and coily hair that still influence society today. And as movements advocating for black liberation emerged, the topic of hair naturally took center stage. As a symbol of pride in their black heritage and resistance, people began proudly wearing their afros in public.    How Hair Trauma still affects black people today Unfortunately, even today, black hair remains highly politicized, and individuals with curly and coily hair still feel compelled to conform to European beauty standards. We continue to hear that the natural hair growing from our scalps is too much, too big, and unsuitable for certain environments. Our hair remains a tool used to oppress us in various ways. Take the story of Chastity Jones for instance. In 2010, she received a job offer from a company called Catastrophe Management Solutions, but with one condition: she had to cut off her locs. Allegedly, the person hiring Jones told her while referring to her hair “They tend to get messy”. Appalled, Jones refused to cut her hair, resulting in the withdrawal of her job offer. Five years later, Lettia McNickle, a hostess working for Madison’s Grill in downtown Montreal, was sent home when she showed up to work with braids in her hair. Allegedly, she had already worked several shifts before her boss decided to confont her about her hair in front of the customers.  Three years later, the story of Faith Fennidy, a young black girl, gained national attention after a video went viral of her being expelled from Christ the King Elementary School in Louisiana because of her braids. And that is just the beginning. Many black people continue to be discriminated against both in the academic and professional settings due to their hair being considered too distracting or unprofessional.    From Hair Trauma to Hair Glory Despite the challenges we've faced, we continue to rise above and have created numerous spaces and movements to celebrate our crowns and heritage. One such movement is the natural hair community. Through this community, we've shared stories, tips, and experiences, committing to learning how to care for our beautiful crowns. There's also a growing recognition of the importance of representation in the media. More and more, black actors, singers, and celebrities proudly showcase their gorgeous natural curls in movies, TV shows, and advertisements. This increased visibility not only challenges traditional beauty standards but also celebrates the diversity and beauty of black hair. These initiatives serve as a reminder of our strength, beauty and resilience. And, by wearing our crown with pride and refusing to let society dictate our worth, we're rewriting the narrative of what it means to have "good hair." We're creating our own standards of beauty, one curl at a time. Because here's the truth: “good hair” comes in all shapes, sizes and textures. And embracing and celebrating diverse hair textures is not only an act of self-love and empowerment but it's the first step on the journey from hair trauma to hair glory.

Integrating Affirmations into your self-care routine Words have the power to shape our physical reality which make affirmations a powerful tool in your self-care arsenal. Integrating affirmations into your daily routines can really positively impact your mental and emotional well-being. As you pamper your external self, remember to nourish your internal world with self-affirming thoughts. Here are some examples of self-care affirmations:  "I am worthy of love and kindness, especially from myself." "I treat myself with the same compassion I offer to others." "My body is a temple, and I nourish it with love and care." "I make choices that support my physical and mental well-being." "I release tension and stress with each deep breath I take." Mastering Your Curls: The Benefits of Diffusing Over Air Drying

Mastering Your Curls: The Benefits of Diffusing Over Air Drying

Every Curl Babe knows that when it comes to hair care, crafting the ideal routine for your crown requires patience and plenty of trial and error! Whilst many of us have already mastered our wash day and styling techniques, there is often one crucial step that is overlooked: the drying process. In fact, how you choose to dry your hair can drastically affect not only how your curls look but also their health!  The air drying vs diffusing debate Picture this: You’ve just finished your wash day, and your curls are looking JUICY. Now comes the million dollar question, should you let them air dry or bring out the diffuser? Well, grab a comfy seat because today, we’ll be diving into the age old Air Drying vs Diffusing Debate and making a case for why diffusing might be your curly hair’s new bff!  Why we don’t recommend air drying  Although Air drying seems to be the easy, damage free route, things are not so simple! Don’t get me wrong, Air Drying does indeed have its benefits! With this method, your curls are at no risk of heat damage and it is way less time consuming than diffusing. You can simply style your hair and let your curls do their thing without needing to manipulate them any further. However, the cons of air drying far outweighs the pros…  Hygral fatigue Air Drying on a consistent basis can cause internal damage to your hair. Each of your hair strands consist of three main regions, the cuticle, the cortex and the medulla. Between the cuticle and the cortex, there is a thin layer called the cell membrane complex.  A study showed that when this membrane swells up due to the hair being wet, it weakens the hair shafts over time. So, the longer your hair remains wet, the higher the chances of that layer being weakened. Scalp issues Did you know that your scalp has a thriving metropolis of bacteria? It's like its own little ecosystem up there! And, these critters THRIVE in damp and dark environments. So, consistently air drying your hair can lead to bacteria growth, fungus and dandruff which can really affect your scalp health.  Can lead to more frizz Air drying your hair may result in less definition and more frizz. Your curls will be at their best immediately after styling and diffusing them helps keep your pattern intact. On the other hand, with air drying, there are more opportunities for your curl pattern to be disturbed. Also, the weight of the water can also elongate your curls, deforming them.   Longer drying time  And last but not least, air drying means that you’re going to spend at least a couple of hours having to endure the uncomfortable feeling of wet hair. For curly girls with extra thick or long hair, it could take an entire day to air dry completely!  Why Diffusing Outshines Air Drying 👏🏾 EVERY. TIME  When it comes to achieving stunning, frizz free curls, the choice is clear: diffusing is the way to go. Say goodbye to unpredictable hair days and hello to gorgeous, voluminous curls that last! This method involves using a dryer attachment to “disperse” the air flow over a wider area of your crown so you can dry your hair faster without disturbing your curls too much. The benefits of this technique include… Faster drying time The most obvious reason why diffusing is beneficial is because it dries your curls faster than air drying does. So, if you want to be able to style your hair and leave your house without your curls being wet…diffuse, diffuse, diffuse!  Seals in products The heat of the diffuser really seals in all of the great ingredients from your products, allowing for your curls to fully absorb them.  Better for your scalp Using heat to dry your hair faster is much better for your scalp health in the long run. As mentioned above, leaving your hair wet or damp for an extended period can cause the bacteria on your scalp to grow and multiply faster! So, by diffusing, you are limiting the amount of time your curls stay wet which helps prevent unwanted visitors!  More definition If you’re all about those defined, bouncy curls, diffusing is your secret weapon.  A diffuser helps your hair maintain its definition for up to twice as long and helps keep your curl pattern intact, so you can rock those spirals like nobody’s business. To get really defined, juicy curls during wash day try our CurlCare styling products! More volume Last but not least, Diffusing helps create more voluminous curls and coils so you can rock a beautiful fro all day long! The shape of the diffuser helps to cup your hair upwards which will naturally help you achieve more volume. With this tool, it is also easier to reach your roots and lift them upwards away from your scalp.  Are there any cons to diffusing? Well, not really… While it's true that using a diffuser regularly can potentially lead to heat damage by breaking down the outer lipid layer of your strands, modern diffusers are designed to be gentler and are less likely to cause heat damage. To stay on the safe side, use medium to low heat to dry your curls and you’re good to go! Another potential “con” of diffusing is how time consuming and inconvenient it can be, especially if you’ve got a lot of hair! But think of it like this, you get to both dry your hair and an arm workout at the same time! Who needs a gym membership when you’ve got a diffuser, am I right? And there you have it, folks…In the battle of the haircare titans, diffusing emerges as the undisputed champion for curly locks! 🏆 From taming frizz and achieving perfect curls to keeping your scalp healthy, diffusing is the superhero every Curl Babe deserves! 💜

Our Curl Story: The Journey of Inhairtance

Our Curl Story: The Journey of Inhairtance

The Journey of Inhairitance June is a very special month for us. It's the month when Inhairitance was first born! I wanted to take some time and reflect on how far we've come in our journey because I am truly so proud of not only of the growth of this company but how many curly girls we’ve been able to help over the years!  Where it all began… When I first founded this company in 2012, Inhairitance started as a small section on a 4-foot-long wall in a Curl Boutique. The inspiration for Inhairitance came from my personal hair struggles as a Black girl growing up in a Eurocentric community in Austria. With little to no representation and products catered to my hair type, I often felt isolated and wished for more manageable hair. My curls, which should have been a source of pride, were instead a source of shame. As I grew older, I yearned for a safe space where curly girls could share their experiences, uplift each other, and celebrate our unique beauty. This longing led to the creation of Inhairitance. It was born out of a desire to build a community where all curly girls could feel seen, heard, and loved. Our Very First Boutique To my surprise, the products I initially stocked on that small shelf sold out in less than a day! This overwhelming response confirmed what I had suspected all along: curly girls needed a place like Inhairitance. Motivated by this realization, I continued to push forward. Over the years, I connected with like-minded stylists who shared my vision of creating a curly haven. With their invaluable help, we opened the doors to the very first Inhairitance Boutique! Look how tiny it was🥺.  The Opening of Our Second Boutique Soon enough, we outgrew our little space and moved to a bigger place in the South West of Montreal. With a bigger team of dedicated stylists, we were able to serve more clients and truly make a difference in their lives. We became one of the few salons in Montreal catering specifically to curly and coily hair, and seeing the joy and confidence our clients gained from our services filled my heart with immense happiness. We had become the safe space I always wished for as a child, and knowing we were helping others find that same comfort was deeply fulfilling. The Creation of Curl Care In 2019, we made a huge step and created our CurlCare products. By then, we had been using & collaborating with a number of curly hair companies and we had seen what worked best with our client's hair, what they loved, and which ingredients gave the results that were truly transformational. So, with the help of some amazing chemists we were able to create products that truly represented everything we stood for as a brand. We wanted clean, safe, natural products that were made with love, care and attention. Something that would truly transform and drastically increase the health and integrity of all curls and coils. In total, we came out with 6 products including: Curl Renew Shampoo, Daily Curl Booster Leave in, Curl Butter, Hold it Right There! Gel, Unconditional Love Deep Conditioner and Moisture Lock Pomade.  Today… Fast forward to today and we’re still growing and are blessed enough to continue helping thousands of Curl babes, not only in Montreal but also in the US, Martinique and in France! So far, we’ve helped over 20k Curl babes achieve their hair goals and we hope to continue doing that for years and years to come. Our Curl Care line has expanded to 12 products, and we are proud to be one of the few Black women-owned companies to reach the seven-figure status. A heartfelt Thank you That being said, None of this would have been possible without our amazing community of Curl babes. From the bottom of our hearts, my team and I want to thank you. It is your support and love that has allowed us to grow and prosper. You are the heart and soul of Inhairitance, and everything we do is to help you achieve your hair dreams and become the best, most confident version of yourself. Your support has enabled us to create an impact and make a difference for curly women, men, and children who no longer feel alienated in a world that often upholds Eurocentric beauty standards. We hope to continue providing a safe space and educating people about curly hair so that future generations of curly kids never have to experience the hair traumas we endured. Once again, thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to many more years of curls, community, and love! 🥂 With Love,  Abisara Machold

Flat Twists Flat twists are a great way to keep your curls neat and tidy without sacrificing style. To achieve this look, start by parting your hair down the middle. And voila, you have a gorgeous, versatile style that will protect your strands!  Bandana Curls   Bandana curls are a fun and easy way to add a bit of style  to your curls. To achieve this look, start by brushing your hair back into a high ponytail. Then, use a hair gentle, large hair tie to secure your hair in place. To add volume and texture to your hair, use a hair pick or comb to fluff out the puff!  Half Up Half Down The half-up half-down hairstyle is a versatile style that can be dressed up or down. To achieve this look, start by sectioning off the top half of your hair and securing it with a gentle hair tie. Then, leave the bottom half of your hair down.  Remember, taking care of your curls is key to achieving a great hairstyle. The Best Hair Care Tips for Travelling during the Holidays

The Best Hair Care Tips for Travelling during the Holidays

Embarking on a holiday journey is undeniably thrilling, but for us curl babes, it often comes with a unique set of challenges. Taking care of your crown whilst traveling can feel like an entirely different ballgame. We’ve been there too and, trust us, we understand the struggle. This year, we are here to be your travel companions and ensure your trip goes smoothly for both you and your curls!  In this guide, we're unraveling the mysteries of travel hair care, providing tips, tricks, and product recommendations that will take much of the guesswork out of the equation! This will ensure that your curls will remain fabulous no matter where your holiday adventures take you. Step 1: Preparing your curls for your holiday adventure Before your trip, make sure that your curls are in top shape.  Before you embark on your holiday escapade, make sure to make some time to treat your curls to some well-deserved pampering! Consider it a pre-travel ritual to fortify your curls for the journey ahead.  The first step would be to use a really good quality protein treatment that will infuse strength and vitality to your curls. Our Curl Repair reconstructive protein treatment is a true marvel in curl care. Packed with hydrolyzed Baobab and Quinoa Proteins, this vegan treatment doesn't just skim the surface – it dives deep into each strand, repairing and fortifying them from the inside out. It's a powerhouse of restoration that is beneficial to all curl babes (with the exception of low porosity hair.)  The second step is to use the unconditional love deep conditioning hair mask. This product is your ticket to optimal hydration, ensuring each strand is deeply moisturized. You can even take your deep conditioning routine a step further and use a steamer to get maximum hydration. Taking these steps will ensure your curls are in prime condition for your holiday adventure!  Make a list of your essentials  Making a visual list can take a lot of the stress away so you don’t end up forgetting any of your essentials! A couple of days before you travel, take 30 minutes to really think through what you might need for your hair care. Then create a detailed list of everything you’ll need  including your satin pillowcases, bonnets, hair brushes, scrunchies etc. When creating your list, make sure to take into consideration what hairstyles you’ll be wearing on your trip and jot down everything you’ll need to create them. Of course, you should also not forget to bring all of the products that you’ll need to keep your hair healthy and thriving for the holidays but we’ll cover that in more detail below. Step 2: Weather Proof Your Crown The next step for preparing your crown for your trip is to plan for the weather! Knowing how your curls will react in different weather environments and how to manage it is important to not have any unwelcome surprises. Here, we've rounded up our top tips to ensure your crown remains fabulous, no matter the conditions. Humid and rainy weather For Low porosity hair  If you’re a low porosity Curl Babe, your crown is not as affected by humidity as other hair types. In fact, the extra moisture in the air can make your hair appear more voluminous and gorgeous! Simply make sure that your strands are well hydrated with a few sprays of the Mistify before leaving the house and you’re all set.  For high porosity hair  Medium to high porosity hair is like a sponge for moisture, which can lead to frizz and tangles in humid conditions. To combat this, ensure your hair is well-hydrated before going out and seal in that moisture with our moisture lock pomade. However, if you have fine hair strands make sure to use this product sparingly to avoid weighing down your curls!  For hot, sunny weather:  Sunny weather is always welcome during trips but, as a Curl Babe, it's important to know how to properly protect your crown against sun damage. To shield your curls from the sun’s harmful UV rays, use our UV-protective Mystify Spray. It will ensure your crown remains vibrant and healthy even under the scorching sun. For dry, cold weather:  For Low porosity hair When the air is dry, hydrate your hair during wash days to prevent your crown from drying out. Although it can take time for moisture to penetrate your low porosity strands, the good news is, once it's in, it stays! So make sure to not skip deep conditioning and use our moisture rescue low porosity conditioner to really get those curls popping!  For high porosity hair  For medium to high porosity curl babes, your strands are able to easily absorb moisture but it tends to slip away just as easily. So on top of hydration, sealing the moisture is a very important step as well. Try our Unconditional Love deep treatment, followed by Daily Curl Booster leave-in for well-hydrated curls. Finish with Moisture Lock Pomade to lock in moisture and enhance your curls. Don't forget to refresh and rehydrate as needed between washes for consistent hydration. Step 3: On the go styling tips The third step to your travel preparation is planning out some emergency hairstyles. Planning ahead with easy and simple hairstyles can be a game-changer for those moments when your hair seems to have a mind of its own.  When your hair gets too frizzy Sometimes, despite our best efforts, our curls rebel and transform into a frizzy mess…and that is totally okay! It's just the reality of having curly hair. When traveling, there will be moments where your hair decides to go rogue, and you need to be prepared. The key is having a set of simple, fast, and cute hairstyles up your sleeve. This way, you can still rock a super cute look on vacation, even when your hair decides to embrace the frizz. So, here are some hairstyle ideas that we suggest:  The High Puff The Low Bun The Cute Bandana  When you don’t have time to restyle  In the whirlwind of travel, the unexpected is the only constant! Imagine deciding on a last-minute museum or restaurant visit, and your hair needs a wash with no time to spare. This is where cute, elegant styles become your secret weapon. With these quick fixes, you can effortlessly transition from one adventure to the next without worrying about missing out because your hair needs attention. The Braided Half up, Half Down The Braided Low Puff The Triple bun Mohawk  The Crown Twist Step 4: All your Must Have products for traveling The final step in preparing for your holiday travels is packing and bringing all your favorite products with you. The perfect way to do that is by simply packing a Curls on the go kit! This kit is your compact travel companion containing all the essentials in mini sizes! Here is what is included inside:  Curl Renew Shampoo First in the lineup is the Curl Renew Shampoo. This shampoo is great for gently washing away styling products, refreshing your curls, and revitalizing your hair during your holiday trip.  Unconditional Love Next up is the Unconditional Love deep conditioner, your travel companion for a love-soaked dose of hydration. Different environments, varying weather conditions, and hard water can take a toll on your curls, making this deep conditioner a must-pack! Curl Butter & Moisture Lock  Curl Butter is great for both moisture and definition so it's also a very handy product to have! It will ensure that your hair remains moisturized but will also provide you with a light hold and help you achieve beautiful voluminous curls.  On the other hand, Moisture lock is essential to lock in all the hydration from your wash day! This is especially important for Curl babes with medium to high porosity because your strands are more likely to let moisture escape than low porosity Curl Babes.  Hold it right there Gel  No curl kit is complete without a quality gel, and that is where our Hold It Right There Gel steps into the spotlight. Ideal for achieving incredible definition and shine, it's your go-to for wash n go’s and sleek hairstyles.  Mistify  Mistify is a true multitasker and is perfect for rehydrating your curls mid-week when a full wash isn't an option. This product not only refreshes your curls but also provides essential UV protection, making it a must-have for sun-soaked destinations. Daily Curl Booster Our Daily Curl Booster Leave-in is amazing for providing some extra hydration during your wash days and mid week. Use this in conjunction with mystify to refresh and rehydrate your curls for your events!  And there you have it…With these travel tips and your Curls on the go kit in hand, you’re ready to take the world by storm with amazing, bouncy and healthy curls. Now you can be sure that your crown will remain fabulous wherever the holidays take you! Happy travels, Curl Babes!

This can easily lead to frustration for both you and your child!  To make detangling less of a struggle, apply a hydrating leave-in conditioner or a detangling spray on damp hair. Then use a brush and gently work through the knots, starting from the tips and working your way up to the roots.  Keep it Simple Keep your child's curly hair routine and styling as simple as possible. There is no need to layer a ton of products to get the perfect curls or to style their hair in extravagant ways that might be damaging. Consider easy hairstyles like the ones mentioned above and keep it cute and simple!  Teach them Self Care & help them embrace their unique curl pattern  Another great practice is to involve your child in their hair care routine by encouraging them to learn how to take care of their beautiful crown! This is a great first step to teaching them the importance of self care and self love so that they can embrace and fall in love with their own natural beauty!   Styling your little one's curly crown can be made simpler and more enjoyable with the right techniques and a little preparation. These cute and simple hairstyles will make the back to school season a breeze and ensure that your kids look fabulous! So, cheers to a stress free & stylish school year 🥂🎓
